Andy Murray given Shanghai wild card

World # 1 Andy Murray has been given a wild card for following month’s Shanghai Pros.
The three-time Grand Slam winner has been continuing his comeback as a singles player following his hip operation in January – this summer, having eased his way back into activity by playing doubles.
He’s set for a busy autumn beginning in Beijing and Zhuhai, including three straight weeks in China, and culminating at the Shanghai Pros, where he is a former champion.
He said:”I am quite looking forward to return into Shanghai, a championship I have had success in in the past – the last time I was there was in 2016.
“Due to the championship for a wild card, then it is great to have the ability to keep my comeback and play more tennis in China.
“Shanghai is a excellent city, I’m comfortable there and the lovers are always supportive.”
Murray endured first round exits since the surgery on his right hip in the Cincinnati Masters along with also the Winston-Salem Open in his early singles excursions.
He played with a Challenger event in Spain before bowing out in which he attained the last 16.
The Zhuhai Championships begin on September 23 – and Murray has signed for the European Open in Antwerp, That Is the week after Shanghai.
